MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) - Environmentally friendly future energy solutions will be in the spotlight of the international public forum-dialogue and exhibition AtomEco 2017 due in Moscow on 21-22 November, BelTA learned from the Atomexpo press service.
The event is held on the initiative of the State Corporation Rosatom to discuss the results of the activities to ensure nuclear, radiation and environmental safety and to formulate new environmental tasks jointly with the public and scientific community.
The main theme of AtomEco 2017 is Clean Energy for Future Generations. The business program will open with a plenary debate featuring Director General of State Corporation Rosatom Aleksei Likhachev, Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergei Donskoy, IAEA Deputy Director General Mikhail Chudakov, Head of the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Supervision Alexei Aleshin, and President of of the Kurchatov Institute Mikhail Kovalchuk. The experts will discuss energy of the future in terms of environment, economy and sustainable development.
Roundtables and sessions will be built around three thematic tracks: Safety, Nuclear Technology, Environment; Environmental Regulation and Protection; Society and Nuclear Energy. They will discuss current challenges and approaches to the regulation of safety in atomic energy, the closed nuclear fuel cycle as a basis of clean nuclear energy, advanced technology and best practices in the field of waste management, environmental aspects of the development of the Arctic, the elimination of nuclear heritage sites in Northwest Russia, international cooperation in solving complex environmental problems, transformation of the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of environmental protection, modern formats for holding public discussions and other topics.
The business program will bring together international experts, representatives of foreign companies and international organizations, including IAEA, OECD Nuclear Energy Agency, French Agency for Radioactive Waste Management (ANDRA), the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority's (STUK), DBE (Germany), SKB (Sweden), KORAD (Republic of Korea).
The exhibition will display cutting-edge cleaning technologies for various environments, industrial and household waste processing, radioactive waste management, and spent nuclear fuel management.
