MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – The global energy crisis has revealed the advantages of nuclear power, Belarus' Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.
“At present, 440 nuclear power units operate in 32 countries, another 56 power units are under construction. According to IAEA forecasts, electricity output is expected to increase by about 3.6% in 2023-2025,” Viktor Karankevich said.
According to him, the global energy crisis has shown the advantages of nuclear energy. “At the IAEA General Conference last year, a record number of countries declared their intentions to build their own power units. These are 50 states; 27 of them are EU countries, including our neighbors who opposed this matter not so long ago,” the minister emphasized.
