Belarus introduces oil export duty

Belarus has introduced a crude oil export duty. The decision was formalized by Decree No. 655 as of 31 December 2014. The document has been officially posted on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA has learned.
The decree has established that “the duty is to be paid by organizations exporting crude oil produced in Belarus and organizations transporting this oil to other countries with which Belarus signed free trade agreements”.
The measurement unit used to calculate the duty is one tonne of crude oil. The document provides the calculation formula.
The duty is to be paid in U.S. dollars or euro every month. It will be transferred to the central budget.
The decree came into force on 1 January 2015.
