08.12.2022

MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian nuclear power plant and universities shape the strategy on training personnel for the nuclear energy industry together. Deputy Head of the Education and Training Center of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant Oleg Zhenov mentioned it in BelTA's press center on 8 December.

Oleg Zhenov said: “In 2013 the leadership of the Energy Ministry and the Belarusian nuclear power plant adopted a policy on recruiting personnel in four main areas. Those are people with experience of working at nuclear power plants, workers of the Belarusian power engineering industry, local personnel who have worked at production sites, and young specialists, who have just graduated from universities. Personnel were trained in two main areas: within the framework of the government program on training personnel for the nuclear energy industry and within the framework of the general contract with Rosatom. We tightly cooperated with the Rosatom Technical Academy. We are now resuming our cooperation in pinpoint matters – for training top-tier executive personnel and in highly specialized areas.”

Oleg Zhenov remarked that in 2014-2019 specialists, who had previously worked in heat energy industry, were trained to work at the Belarusian nuclear power plant. As many as 80 people were retrained in Russian universities – in Ivanovo and Obninsk. “At present many of them occupy executive positions,” the official pointed out.

In his words, the Belarusian nuclear power plant has welcomed quite a lot of young specialists, they have been distributed into various departments. “We tightly cooperate with universities: we participate in the post-graduation mandatory job assignment and in the organization of internships for students. 2018 saw 75 people complete internships, 2019 saw 122 people. As many as 119 people did it in 2020, 106 in 2021, and 204 in January-September 2022. We are asked to approve syllabuses of universities, we work out a common strategy on training young specialists,” Oleg Zhenov added.

The Education and Training Center of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant has a full-scale simulator, an analytical simulator, local simulators, a simulator of the central control room, a water conditioning and purification simulator, classrooms focusing on maintenance and repairs, and so on.
