Belarus’, Russia’s nuclear research institutes establish sci-tech cooperation

The Joint Energy and Nuclear Research Institute Sosny of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the All-Russian Research Institute for Nuclear Power Plants Operation (VNIIAES) (an affiliate of Russia’s Rosenergoatom Concern and part of the electric power division of Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom) have signed an agreement on cooperation in science and technology, BelTA learned from Rosatom.
The main cooperation goals are to create favorable conditions to undertake joint research and development and commercialize of cooperation results.
VNIIAES and the Sosny institute intend to cooperate in
providing scientific and technical support to nuclear power plant operation, operating crisis centers, modernizing NPP simulators in the Sosny institute, and developing new software and hardware complexes.
Moreover, the institutes will join efforts to normalize requirements for security, technical documents examination, joint deterministic and probabilistic estimations to ensure safety of an NPP.
The Joint Energy and Nuclear Research Institute Sosny of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus performs a lot of tasks related to state scientific and sci-tech programs and implements the state program “Scientific support for nuclear industry development in the Republic of Belarus in 2009-2010 and for the period until 2020”.
The All-Russian Research Institute for Nuclear Power Plants Operation (VNIIAES) is a scientific adviser on matters of Russia’s nuclear power plants operation.
