Belarusian specialists study Russian nuclear probability risk assessment experience

Specialists of the Belarusian nuclear power plant have been made familiar with the experience of Russian nuclear industry specialists in the area of probability risk assessment, BelTA learned from the information and public relations department of the Balakovo nuclear power plant.
Belarusian specialists went to the Balakovo nuclear power plant to get familiar with the experience of their colleagues in the area of probability risk assessment. The probability risk assessment is a system-oriented approach to evaluating the risks associated with a complex technological entity such as a nuclear power plant.
The Belarusian specialists were made familiar with the Balakovo nuclear power plant’s three-tier safety culture system and a system designed to record and analyze information about equipment defects.
Specialists of the Balakovo nuclear power plant also shared their experience of introducing and operating a risk monitoring system based on the Risk Watcher software package.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built using the Russian standard Generation III+ design AES-2006 near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020. The first batch of nuclear fuel is supposed to be delivered to the nuclear power plant till the end of 2018.
