MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – Representatives of the Belarusian national energy company Belenergo, the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, and OAO Belenergoremnaladka visited the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant (branch of Rosenergoatom Concern, the electric energy division of the Russian state corporation Rosatom). The Belarusian delegation intended to borrow the best practices of operating and organizing repairs of the innovative sixth unit of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant that features VVER-1200 reactors of the Generation 3+, Rosenergoatom's press service told BelTA.

The visit was specifically timed to a regular scheduled preventive repair of the power-generating unit so that Belarus' representatives could see the process first hand, could study principles and approaches of the Russian colleagues to organizing the routine operation and repairs.

The first unit and the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant use a similar design that was successfully implemented for the first time in Novovoronezh. During the seven years of operating the sixth unit personnel of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant accumulated a unique knowledge base and practical experience they are happy to share with colleagues operating Russian nuclear power plants and foreign ones.

Belarus' representatives met with specialists of the turbine shop, the centralized repairs shop, the repair preparation department, the repair management department, and the operation and technical department. They also visited the machine hall of unit No.6 of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant.

“We received a lot of information. The business trip was productive. The communication was constructive. They welcomed us with hospitality and joy, paid a lot of attention to us although the colleagues had a very busy schedule due to the scheduled preventive repair. We exchanged contact information and will stay in touch. The Novovoronezh nuclear power plant has accumulated invaluable experience. They pioneered a lot of things, this is why it was important for us to personally visit the place,” noted Vladimir Sychev, Deputy Head of the Nuclear Power Plant Operation and Repairs Office of the Belarusian national energy company Belenergo.
