Belenergo, Russian turbine factory to advance cooperation

Top executives of the Belarusian state power grid operator Belenergo and ZAO Ural Turbine Works signed a memorandum of cooperation on 13 October, Belarusian First Deputy Energy Minister Leonid Shenets told BelTA.

The document will contribute to the development of long-term cooperation in the designing and manufacturing of steam-powered heating and condensation turbines, specified the official. Apart from that, plans have been made to bolster cooperation in the sphere of services for the reconstruction and modernization of equipment, supplies of spare parts, startup and commissioning, aftersales service, installation of equipment at Belenergo enterprises.

Leonid Shenets remarked that the complex of measures that had been developed together will allow increasing the reliability and safety of energy delivery to Belenergo’s consumers. It will improve equipment performance thanks to innovative measures. The commissioning of new facilities and the reconstruction of existing ones through reliance on the technical potential and expertise of the Russian company will secure the maximum effectiveness of the measures partially thanks to the reduced cost of consequent repairs and service, concluded the Belarusian First Deputy Energy Minister.

The Belarusian state industrial group Belenergo manages the economic functions involved in operating the Belarusian energy grid. The group comprises 30 organizations, including six electricity providers in the oblast capitals, construction and installation enterprises, manufacturing infrastructure enterprises, repair and tuning enterprises, and research institutes. The installed power-generating capacity of Belenergo’s facilities is 9,381.3MW.

ZAO Ural Turbine Works is a leading Russian mechanical engineering company that designs and manufactures equipment for the power engineering industry. Established in 1938, the company now specializes in making steam turbines, servicing and modernizing steam and gas turbines. The company is part of the holding company Rotec.
