Belorusneft discovers new oil deposit in Gomel Oblast
04.02.2015
Specialists of the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft have discovered a new oil deposit in Gomel Oblast, the company’s press service told BelTA.
Oil flow to surface was secured in the Rechitskoye field by drilling an exploration well 2,826-2,870m below the surface. The initial yield of the well was close to 100t per day. The new oil deposit was found as part of the follow-up exploration of the existing oil fields. The well was drilled on the basis of the research performed by the Belarusian oil industry research institute BelNIPIneft. The drilling began in August 2014.
The predetermined well depth along the hole is 2,875m, the revealed oil saturated thickness of the layer is 21.1m, and the formation pressure is 27.1MPa. The potential geological reserves of the new deposit are estimated at 1,048,000t, including 315,000t of recoverable oil.
The oil deposit is being switched to commercial operation now. There are plans to drill four extraction wells and one injection well.
The discovery of the new oil deposit once again confirmed that while the structure of the Rechitskoye oil field has been thoroughly examined, the resources of the oil field have not been depleted. Apart from that, the result can be evaluated as a fine test of the potential of the Belarusian-Italian project — the first skid-mounted drilling rig made by Drillmec and Seismotekhnika for cluster drilling. The rig was used to drill the well that produced oil flow to surface.
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
