CIS to harmonize national programs in energy efficiency, conservation

The harmonization of national programs of the CIS member states in energy efficiency and energy saving with a view to strengthening energy security will be high on the agenda of the session of the managing committee of the Energy Efficiency 21 Program which is held in Geneva, Head of the Information Department, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Andrei Savinykh told reporters on 18 April.
According to Andrei Savinykh, on 16-18 April Geneva also plays host to the 5th session of the group of experts of the Global Energy Efficiency 21 initiative and the 19th session of the group of experts on energy efficiency investments for climate change mitigation. Representative of the Energy Efficiency Department of the State Standardization Committee Andrei Minenkov partakes in the sessions on Belarus’ behalf.
The agenda of the sessions includes a number of issues pertaining to the Energy Efficiency 21 Program, investments in higher energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, enhancement of energy security and a better access to energy services because of the development of public-private partnership in the field of renewable energy sources.
Apart from that, participants of the sessions will discuss the results of the 3rd international forum “Energy for Sustainable Development”.
