MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – Belarus does not depend on imports as far as the digitization of the gas industry is concerned, BelTA learned from Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich.

Viktor Karankevich said: “Close attention is paid to the use of new, modern technologies aimed at automating and digitizing technological processes. With this in mind the enterprise Vitebskoblgas has set up the relevant division ITGaz, which employs highly qualified programmers. They ensured the development of all the programs and software suites for the operation of the gas transport system. These are proprietary products. In other words, we are fully independent from imports.”

The Belarusian national fuel and natural gas distribution industrial group Beltopgas has created a digital twin of the gas infrastructure and uses an automated system that has three layers. For the sake of minimizing consequences and reducing financial losses from gas pipeline damage the company can now model incidents and emergencies. The function has been implemented in one of the largest digital projects: the multiprogram complex Panorama, which covers all the processes involved in operating gas distribution system facilities.

All the gas distribution networks have been digitized in Belarus. Telemetry systems have been installed at all the regulator stations across the country. All the information about their operation is uploaded in real time to the program that dispatch operators use.

A total of 150 emergency response teams operate in Belarus. They are fitted with the necessary vehicles, equipment, and tools. They stand ready 24/7 to leave their stations within 5 minutes and tackle any tasks and localize any non-routine situations. This division uses cutting-edge vehicles. All the vehicles are fitted with GPS trackers, this is why their location can be tracked. The central control room tracks all the requests for aid submitted via the phone number 104 in real time.

Personnel of gas supply enterprises are fitted with mobile devices and tablet computers. They allow reflecting all the stages of their work in digital form. All the data is automatically processed and stored in digital archives later on. Users can pay for services with bank cards thanks to software-based cash registers.
