Energy Ministry explains what happened to BelNPP website on 25 April
MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Problems were access to the official website of the Belarusian nuclear power plant were caused by IP spoofing. In order to insert false information criminals created a phishing webpage with attributes of the nuclear power plant's website and routed users to it, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.
According to the source, the work of the official website of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was not disrupted. Once IP spoofing was detected, the phishing webpage was blocked. Parties responsible for it are being identified. Since the website is not hosted on servers of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the incident does not threaten the nuclear power plant's information systems.
The source added that the Belarusian nuclear power plant uses comprehensive information security measures.
