Expert: Nuclear energy safety standards are continuously improved

26.04.2013

The improvement of safety standards in all the things relevant for nuclear power engineering is a continuous process. The statement was made by Zoya Trafimchik, Director of the Belarusian branch of the Russian-Belarusian information center for the Chernobyl catastrophe, at the online conference hosted by the BelTA website on 26 April.

“Yes, Chernobyl and Fukushima indicate that it is difficult to take precautions against everything. This is why the continuous improvement of safety standards regardless of however high they are is one of the key principles used to ensure the nuclear and radiation safety,” stressed the expert.
