GRODNO, 18 August (BelTA) – Grodno Oblast’s first solar power plant has been opened in the town of Shchuchin, BelTA learned from Sergei Lozhechnik, Chairman of the Shchuchin District Executive Committee.
Built by OOO Agrohimsvet in the village of Rozhanka, Shchuchin District, the solar power plant boasts the output capacity of 1.26MW. The first few modules were deployed in 2014. All the other modules were installed by late June 2015. Solar panels with the output capacity of 230-250W each occupy an area of 2.4ha. The power plant generates about 8,500kWh of electricity per day. Representatives of the Economy Committee of the district administration told BelTA that about Br18.5 billion has been invested in the project. The Rozhanka-based power plant is the first solar power plant in Grodno Oblast.
The same investor plans to implement another alternative energy project in Shchuchin District by 2018. The company OOO LogAl-Energo has been registered with this in mind. The relevant contract was signed in January. A former airfield is the construction site for this solar power plant. There are plans to install imported solar panels able to generate up to 2.5MW of energy. The development of design specifications and estimates is nearing completion. The project is estimated at Br35 billion, with about Br400 million spent already.
The third solar power installation in the region is supposed to be built in the village of Rogachi, Grodno District. The engineering company InvestEnergoStroy plans to build a 1MW solar power plant there by 2016.
