21.01.2015
The IAEA Regional Workshop on National Nuclear Regulatory Portals opened in Minsk on 21 January, BelTA learned from the nuclear and radiation safety department at the Belarusian Emergencies Minsitry (Gosatomnadzor).
"This is the first time Belarus is hosting such an event. Gosatomnadzor has been one of its organizers. The event, which will last till 23 January, has brought together specialists from 15 countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Ukraine, the United States and France.
Gosatomnadzor noted that the National Nuclear Regulatory Portals (NNRPs) are one of the components of the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network (GNSSN). It is based on the IAEA Internet servers and provides access to a variety of networks and information resources. The network is a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences in the field of nuclear safety for more than a thousand experts from more than 100 countries.
"In contrast to the bulky official websites of regulatory agencies, the National Nuclear Regulatory Portals (NNRP) are much more concise,” Gosatomnadzor said. They contain relevant information about the regulatory infrastructure in the country, the specifics of a regulatory body, the existing nuclear installations.
The work on GNNSN National Nuclear Regulatory Portals started in May 2012. About 100 national portals, including the Belarusian one, are currently in various stages of readiness.
