04.01.2023

MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – Deputy Head of the National Center for Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Contamination Control, and Environmental Monitoring (Belhydromet) Aleksandr Trusov took part in a press conference on 4 January. Among other things the official explained whether Belarus receives background radiation monitoring data from Ukraine, BelTA has learned.

Asked whether Belarus shares radiation monitoring data with Ukrainian specialists, Aleksandr Trusov said: “We have a bilateral agreement with the Ukrainian side. On our part we have not stopped such contacts but there is no tight interaction on the matter now.”

However, Belhydromet participates in the work of the EUropean Radiological Data Exchange Platform (EURDEP). Information about the radiation situation in Belarus is shared with the platform. “Ukrainian colleagues also share information with it. So, we are getting data via EURDEP,” the official explained.
