Plans to commission 62 energy sources powered by local fuel, energy resources in Belarus by 2025

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – As many as 62 energy sources powered by local fuel and energy resources are supposed to be commissioned in Belarus by 2025, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the State Standardization Committee of Belarus, Director of the Energy Effectiveness Department Vitaly Kretsky during the conference held to review 30 years of effort to create an energy-effective country.

Vitaly Kretsky said: “The government pays huge attention to matters of ensuring energy security and energy independence of the country by means of more effectively using fuel and energy resources and substituting imported energy resources (natural gas, coal) with domestic ones.”

As part of the realization of government programs on energy saving as many as 327 energy sources powered by local fuel and energy resources with the total heat output capacity of 1,718.7MW were commissioned in 2010-2022.

The official noted that as many as 62 energy sources powered by local fuel and energy resources with the total heat output capacity of 355.9MW are supposed to be commissioned in 2023-2025.

At present Belarus is home to about 10,500 energy sources with the total heat output capacity of 33,500MW, including some 5,600 energy sources powered by local fuel and energy resources with the total heat output capacity of 6,900MW.
