MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – Russia intends to supply equipment simulators for personnel training to 12 Belarusian thermal power plants, BelTA learned from Aleksei Kovalevich, Managing Director of AO Engineering and Technology Center GET.

Organizations run by the Belarusian Energy Ministry and the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom signed an agreement in the area of building equipment simulators and digital technologies on the sidelines of the international information and communications technologies forum TIBO 2023. The agreement was signed by the Belarusian national energy company Belenergo, OAO Belenergoremnaladka, AO Engineering and Technology Center GET, and Rosatom's country office in Belarus.

The Engineering and Technology Center GET has been developing equipment simulators for a long time, including for the Belarusian nuclear power plant where a full-scale equipment simulator from GET has been already installed. “For over seven years we've been working in the thermal power plant industry. This is why we are ready to offer the best and most science-intensive models of equipment simulators both for nuclear power plants and thermal power plants,” Aleksei Kovalevich said.

Thanks to such equipment simulators power plant personnel can practice all the operations they are required to do as part of their jobs. The simulators can simulate normal operation, deviations from normal operation, emergencies, and major accidents. “All of them are meant to help personnel learn the necessary skills. We are now preparing simulators at 12 power plants in all the oblasts of Belarus,” Aleksei Kovalevich said.

In his words, equipment simulators increase the safety of operation of power plants. “Economy gets better thanks to it because improper operation results in major losses. A large number of equipment outages are caused by the human factor,” Aleksei Kovalevich said.

Equipment simulators from GET are installed at many Russian nuclear power plants. “We also work a lot abroad where Russia is building power plants. We have installed two full-scale equipment simulators in China. A contract has been signed for delivering another two,” the executive said.
