Poland is ready to create new opportunities for oil and gas transit via Belarus, BelTA learned from Janusz Piechocinski, Economy Minister, Vice Prime Minister of Poland, during the Belarusian-Polish investment forum on 1 December.
“We are in serious negotiations on cooperation with the operators responsible for supplying natural gas and oil. I am convinced that we can create new opportunities for the transit of Russian oil and gas via Belarus,” said the Vice Prime Minister of Poland.
He also remarked that Belarus and Poland have great prospects for manufacturing cooperation, the processing of fruits and vegetables, the establishment of joint ventures in the chemical industry, and the production of construction materials. Apart from that, Janusz Piechocinski pointed out that discussions about the development of transport corridors were going to become a special part of negotiations on 1 December. “During the forum Belarusian and Polish investors will be able to calmly speak about cooperation terms,” stated the Polish Economy Minister.
Janusz Piechocinski pointed out that the Swiss company Stadler had already invested in the establishment of its enterprise in Belarus. “I hope a lot that the Polish company Pesa will become part of this sector as successfully,” said the Economy Minister.
The Polish-Belarusian investment forum is scheduled to take place in Warsaw on 1 December. Several meetings of Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusyi have been planned, including meetings with heads of Polish companies.
