Rosatom to help Belarus create telecommunication equipment lineup

19.04.2023

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – The Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom will help Belarus create a lineup of telecommunication equipment, BelTA learned from Director of OOO Rusatom Bel (Rosatom's country office in Belarus) Stanislav Levitsky on the sidelines of the international information and communications technologies forum TIBO 2023.

Rosatom's country office in Belarus and OOO T-Kom signed an agreement on strategic cooperation in the area of realization of joint telecommunication equipment projects with the Belarusian company OAO Promsvyaz.

A number of difficulties impede deliveries of telecommunication equipment components, Stanislav Levitsky noted. Rosatom expected this situation. This is why work has been in progress since 2018 to develop a proprietary lineup of telecommunication equipment for Rosatom's secure corporate network. The equipment was also developed to be used as part of critical information infrastructure. “We have been looking for partners and we have found them. They supply a number of critical components to us now. We also make several parts and components. The equipment manufacturing localization rate is close to 65%,” the executive said.

In his words, Rosatom has substituted a critical lineup in the nuclear energy industry. “Since the corporation employs over 300,000 people, the demand was huge. Now we are happy to offer this product as a whole and as individual parts. We are ready to offer these goods to OOO Promsvyaz as the main organization in the administration loop of the Communications and Informatization Ministry so that they could make its own lineup later on,” Stanislav Levitsky said.

The agreement on strategic cooperation is aimed at creating a Belarusian lineup of telecommunication equipment, Stanislav Levitsky said. “Russian equipment cannot be put to use right away because certain bodies have to certify it for use as part of Belarus' infrastructure first. I hope the implementation of this document will begin very fast now and will result in a concrete commercial contract, after which the manufacturing of Belarusian equipment will begin with our aid,” he concluded.
