This year as much as $470 million of Russia’s export loan has been spent on building the Belarusian nuclear power plant. A total of $1,047 million has been spent since construction began.
The BelNPP will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW). The AES-2006 which goes in full compliance with the IAEA recommendations was chosen for building Belarus’ first nuclear power plant. The Russian merged company OAO NIAEP – ZAO ASE is the general designer and the general contractor of the project.
