Academies of Sciences of Belarus, Russia develop joint action plan for 2016-2020

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed a plan of joint work for 2016-2020. The document was discussed at the joint session of the Presidiums of the Academies of Sciences of the two states in Moscow on 16 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.
The participants of the session talked over the development prospects of Belarus-Russia cooperation in nano- and biotechnologies and space research. They also paid attention to NASB’s goals of enhancing scientific research and developing innovative activities in Belarus.
The scientists discussed the work of the inter-academic council on the development of the Belarus-Russia Union State and the cooperation between the Academies of Sciences of Belarus and Russia in the development and implementation of Union State programs.
The participants of the session negotiated a draft resolution that stresses the importance of Belarus-Russia scientific cooperation as one of the main areas of international activities.
The Belarusian delegation was led by Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov. He held talks with President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Fortov. Partaking in the session were also Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Alexander Shumilin, representatives of the NASB and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research.
