Academies of sciences of Belarus, Vietnam to set up joint laboratory

The Applied Acoustics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the Institute of Materials Science of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) will establish a joint laboratory, BelTA learned from Yuri Tsarenko, Deputy Director for Science and Innovations at the Applied Acoustics Institute.
The decision is contained in the agreement signed in Vitebsk on 12 May during the 5th International Economic Forum Innovation. Investments. Prospects. “The setting up of this structural subdivision will be another step in our cooperation established more than two years ago. A part of the research will be done in Belarus, another part in Vietnam. As a result, we will get a joint scientific paper that will be published. There will be international training programs, postgraduate training and other projects,” Yuri Tsarenko explained. The Vietnamese colleagues have state-of-the-art equipment that they can provide free of charge. The establishment of such a laboratory will contribute to the promotion of Belarusian scientific solutions, he added.
The Vietnamese delegation attending the forum in Vitebsk also showed interest in reviving the joint project of the Belarusian Fund for Fundamental Research and a Vietnamese agency, which attests to the fact that Belarusian scientific achievements are widely recognized.
“Vietnamese partners are interested in our knowledge, technology, and ready-made solutions,” Yuri Tsarenko added. He clarified that the Center for High Technology Development of the VAST is primarily interested in specific R&D, such as devices and technologies. A separate cooperation agreement was signed with this center during the forum.
The 5th International Economic Forum Innovation. Investments. Prospects is running in Vitebsk on 12-13 May. It includes an extensive business program, a business matchmaking event, an international conference, a seminar and exhibition events. The forum has been organized by the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee and Vitebsk City Hall, Vitebsk oblast administration for supervision of rational use of fuel and energy resources, Vitebsk Regional Marketing Center, the regional association of employers, the administration of the free economic zone Vitebsk.
