Belarus, Egypt sign $1m contract to make drones

CAIRO, 20 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt have signed a contract on setting up a joint enterprise to make unmanned aerial vehicles, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov on 20 February.

The official said: “We've held negotiations with Egyptian partners and have come to terms on a good contract – roughly $1 million – on supplying and setting up an enterprise in Egypt to train specialists and make drones.”

The drone models the joint venture in Egypt will make are showcased during the exhibition Belarus-Egypt: Forward-Looking Partnership. The exhibition is taking place in the new administrative capital of Egypt. The models on display include Busel, Mishen, Yastreb, and Burevestnik MB.

According to Vladimir Gusakov, Egypt is also interested in Belarusian R&D products in the area of artificial intelligence, electric transport, and biotechnologies. “In other words, we are coming here to stay for a long time,” he said.
