MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Israel intend to arrange the first forum of scientific organizations on information and communication technologies, innovative materials, biotechnologies, and nanotechnologies. The initiative was put forward by Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Aleksandr Shumilin as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Alex Goldman Shayman, the committee's press service told BelTA.
Belarusian scientists, representatives of universities and research centers are expected to participate in the forum. Close attention will be paid to promising avenues of R&D cooperation and the promotion of science-intensive products. The implementation of four Belarusian-Israeli R&D projects in the area of digital agriculture as well as in the sphere of development of methods and models for managing R&D processes is nearing completion.
Considering Israel's accomplishments as a global leader in venture investments, the sides discussed the advancement of cooperation in this direction as well as possibilities for using Israeli experience for building a venture investment ecosystem in Belarus.
Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property Vladimir Ryabovolov also took part in the meeting. Expansion of cooperation with Israeli colleagues in the sphere of intellectual property was discussed.
Belarus-Israel R&D cooperation develops in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in education, science, and culture and the agreement between the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus and the Science and Technology Ministry of Israel of 21 May 2018.
