Belarus to present ten R&D projects at 100 Ideas for CIS expo

MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – Belarusian participants will demonstrate their innovations in the final of the international youth contest 100 Ideas for the CIS in Baku, Azerbaijan, BelTA learned from Natalya Stolpinskaya, coordinator of the national youth contest 100 Ideas for Belarus of the BRSM Youth Union.

“The 100 Ideas for the CIS presentation will be held in Baku Crystal Hall on 14-15 November. This is an important event in terms of youth cooperation and support for youth initiatives. The presentation will showcase ten Belarusian projects. Belarus will be represented by winners of the national youth contest 100 Ideas for Belarus in 2017 and 2018,” Natalya Stolpinskaya said.

This year, Belarusian projects will be featured in six categories: Bio- and Nanoindustry; Information, Communications, and Aerospace Technology; Medicine, Medical Equipment and Technology, Pharmacy; Industrial and Construction Technology and Manufacturing; Agricultural Technology and Manufacturing; Society, Economy, and Social Sphere.

“For example, junior researcher of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Aleksei Bakunovich will present the digital atlas ‘Healing of a full-thickness skin wound: microanatomy and histology'. The Belarusian exposition will also include the project ‘Modern atraumatic coating with silver ions for treatment of wounds' by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the pediatric surgery chair at Grodno State Medical University Aleksandr Glutkin,” Natalya Stolpinskaya noted.

The jury of the contest will evaluate the significance of projects, their novelty and originality of ideas and practical recommendations. The winners of the contest will be announced at the awards ceremony on 15 November.

The international youth contest 100 Ideas for the CIS is meant to promote scientific and creative initiatives of the youth. The project is aimed at unlocking the youth's intellectual potential, promoting their achievements, and involving them in research and innovation.

Initiated in 2013 by the BRSM Youth Union, the project was supported by the CIS Council of Youth Affairs. The contest is a biennial event. It consists of two stages: national (selection) and international (final). The first presentation 100 Ideas for the CIS was held in Belarus in April 2016 during the session of the CIS Council on Youth Affairs timed to the 25th anniversary of the CIS and the 10th anniversary of the Council on Youth Affairs.
