Belarusian oil recovery enhancement technologies for India

The oil recovery enhancement technologies developed by the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft will be used at Indian oil fields, Belorusneft’s press service told BelTA.

The agreement on cooperation in this field was reached when a delegation of the Indian state oil company Oil India led by the company’s executive director visited Gomel Oblast. Oil India develops deposits of hydrocarbon resources, prospects, extracts, and transports hydrocarbons. Every year Oil India extracts about 3.5 million tonnes of oil or about 10% of India’s total oil extraction.

Oil India operates mature oil fields that could use the modern oil recovery enhancement technologies that Belorusneft can offer. The Indian side was handed a schedule for carrying out researches and a business proposal concerning work at the Digboi deposit.

Apart from that, during the negotiations in Gomel top executives of Belorusneft, BelNIPIneft, and Oil India talked over the possibility of getting Belarusian specialists to examine the Makum – North Hapjan deposit for the sake of determining the suitable oil recovery enhancement techniques and dealing with development problems, including the high water content in the recovered hydrocarbons. The Belarusian specialists said they were ready to provide engineering services to implement their recommendations.

Common interests on the Russian market were mentioned as well. Belorusneft is eager to offer hydrocracking services in Western Siberia. Buying extracting assets together with Oil India is under consideration.

The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in the surveying, prospecting and development of oil fields, well drilling, oil and associated petroleum gas extraction in Belarus and a number of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
