CIS discusses fight against terrorism in information space at Moscow forum

The 20th international forum Security Technologies and the conference “Fight against terrorism and extremism in the information space in present-day conditions” opened in Moscow on 10 February. The Belarusian delegation is led by Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council Vladimir Archakov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.

The purpose of the conference and the forum is to work out the most efficient mechanisms to implement domestic anti-terror laws and to streamline the system of information response to foreign and domestic security threats in the CIS.

The agenda of the conference highlights the regulation of efforts of government agencies to prevent the distribution of extremist and terrorist content in the Internet, first of all, in social networks, and the efforts to identify such content. A special focus is placed on collaboration of security agencies, special services, law enforcement bodies and the civil society to raise awareness and stand up to the ideology of terrorism and extremism.

During the conference the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center will work out recommendations to streamline the conduct of joint and coordinated events to counteract terrorism and extremism in the information space.

The forum and the conference are organized by the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center under the aegis of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. Taking part in the events are representatives of security agencies and special services of ten CIS member states (Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan), the CIS charter bodies and cooperation agencies, regional organizations, like the CSTO, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the CARICC (Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors), experts from research centers and NGOs, government officials.
