MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – The 45th session of the Telecommunications and Infocommunication Operators Board of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) is taking place in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
Top officials of the RCC Executive Committee, representatives of the CIS branch of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry, telecommunication companies from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan are taking part in the session. Representatives of telecommunication companies from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Tajikistan, and other countries are taking part in the session thanks to videoconference technologies. A total of over 50 experts specializing in telecommunications and modern technologies turned up for the session.
Belarusian First Deputy Communications and Informatization Minister Pavel Tkach opened the session. He welcomed participants and mentioned the importance of joint work and of sharing the best practices for the effective development of digital economy in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). He said: “Thanks to cooperation we enable all the conditions for the development of the digital economy and innovations in our region. Telecommunication is a driver for many other economy branches, this is why matters concerning the creation of modern infrastructure, the introduction of new technologies and digital projects are in focus of our attention today. The matter of security in the digital environment also remains topical.”
Yuri Petruchenya, Director General of the Belarusian telecommunication giant Beltelecom, Chairman of the RCC Telecommunications and Infocommunication Operators Board, stressed that the agenda of the session is supposed to invigorate activities and enable tighter interaction in a broad range of matters. Those include the development and operation of networks, satellite technologies, information security, fight against telecommunication scams, and other topics. A section of the agenda is dedicated to preparing members of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications for the largest international forums organized within the framework of the International Telecommunication Union.
Participants of the meeting will share the best solutions for realizing digital economy programs. They will discuss promising avenues of future work. The development of common mutually acceptable approaches will contribute to the development of modern technologies across the entire space of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications.
The Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) is an international organization, which acts as a CIS interstate coordinating body in the area of telecommunication and postal communication. Work of the RCC Telecommunications and Infocommunication Operators Board is primarily aimed at comprehensive cooperation, coordinated development of communication systems and solutions of the CIS countries, at introducing new services and technologies, improving the effectiveness of quality management of telecommunication services, and other things.
