Expert center of Belarus-Russia interacademy council to evaluate high-tech projects

The expert center of the Interacademy Council for the Development of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will take care of evaluating high-tech projects. The presentation of the center took place in Moscow on 25 February, BelTA has learned.
The center will carry out expert evaluation of high-tech projects and programs of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in various branches of the national economies. The center will focus on space exploration, aircraft engineering, automobile engineering, chemical industry, agribusiness, mechanical engineering, and metallurgy.
Grigory Rapota, State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, noted during the presentation that the agency will give an impulse to the development of scientific ties and interaction between Belarusian and Russian scientists.
The expert center will be located at premises of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. A supervisory board will be part of the center. The board will include Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Piotr Vityaz and Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Aldoshin. The State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will nominate the representative of the Union State Permanent Committee, who will also co-chair the supervisory board.
During the presentation Piotr Vityaz said he hopes that the center will be able to accelerate the adoption of Union State programs and projects. The new agency is expected to bolster manufacturing cooperation between leading enterprises of the country, will accelerate the modernization of technology-intensive branches of the national economy, including via cooperation with the private sector.
The Interacademy Council was founded about ten years ago by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Council contributes to the implementation of projects and programs aimed at creating innovative products and the accomplishment of other important tasks in the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
