MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – Innovative products represent a third of the products made by enterprises run by the Belarusian Industry Ministry, BelTA learned from Sergei Kabishov, Head of the Innovative Activities Department of the Science and Technology Office of the Belarusian Industry Ministry, at a press conference on 1 April.
Sergei Kabishov said that Industry Ministry enterprises export about 70% of their output and secure the flow of foreign currency into Belarus. A third of the products they make are innovative.
The Industry Ministry prioritizes investments in projects designed to create cutting-edge products in such areas as electronic engineering, optic-, micro-, and radio electronics, vehicles with hybrid drives and electric drives, robotized and unmanned agricultural machines and haul trucks.
Virtually all the corporate structures of the Industry Ministry carry out research projects together with institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and universities of the Education Ministry. The overarching goal of this work is to bolster the competitive ability of their products, create new kinds of machines and equipment through the assimilation of R&D results and cutting-edge technologies, Sergei Kabishov noted. In his words, the R&D leaders are BMZ, BelAZ, MAZ, MTZ, Gomselmash, and Amkodor.
The most important R&D products include a BelAZ haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes and a robotized dump truck, which is being tested in the Republic of Khakassia, Russia. The Industry Ministry representative also mentioned an electric truck, a grain harvester powered by natural gas, a tractor with gas and diesel engines, a snow-grooming machine for making skiing tracks, an ice resurfacer, and a snow cannon.
