The implementation of the Chinese-Belarusian project Industrial Park Great Stone can earn billions in revenues. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement during an open dialogue with mass media on 29 January, BelTA has learned.
The head of state remarked that he had visited the People’s Republic of China many times, including before his presidency. Moreover, Alexander Lukashenko suggested paying attention to Chinese experience back when he was a member of the parliament when the policy for Belarus’ development was chosen. But back then the proposal was severely criticized.
“And what do we have more than 20 years later? China is an empire. It is the world’s second largest economy. It is the world’s top exporter. It is the country that has actually secured multipolarity in the world today and it is very important,” said the President. “I have always said that the People’s Republic of China is a friendly nation. Belarus takes pride in its relations with countries like Russia, China, India, and other ones. They are our friends, who are always ready to help us out”.
Alexander Lukashenko spoke highly about Belarusian-Chinese relations. As a positive example he mentioned the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone. “The project means billions that China is interested in. In particular, China is interested in the construction of state-of-the-art enterprises over there and it means billions in revenues for Belarus. If we implement the project, we will have no problems with the gold and foreign exchange reserves or with supporting the exchange rate of the national currency,” believes the head of state. He also said that the establishment of the industrial park will soon be discussed at the level of the president.
Alexander Lukashenko thanked the Chinese side for aiding and supporting Belarus at a difficult time. The President said that the previous head of China and current President of China Xi Jinping support the policy of developing ties with Belarus. By the way, China has lent about $15 billion at affordable interest rates to Belarus for the sake of implementing joint programs.
Alexander Lukashenko reminded about the Chinese leadership’s statement that China will stand up for Belarus and will support it. “I thank China for the level of relations we enjoy now,” said the President.
