Minsk, oblast capitals to get LTE technology in 2015

Plans have been made to start rolling out LTE technology in Minsk and the oblast capitals in 2015, BelTA learned from Belarusian Information Technologies and Communications Minister Sergei Popkov on 18 February.
“The new LTE technology, which is going to be introduced in Belarus, is now in development. The implementation of the project in Minsk and the oblast capitals will begin this year,” explained the Minister.
The company Belarusian Cloud Technologies will implement the project. The first base station is supposed to be built in Q3 2015, noted Sergei Popkov.
“We are not going to drive ourselves hard to secure 100% coverage across the country. LTE will be made available only where the demand is solid. It costs a pretty penny,” stressed the Minister.
