Nikiforov: Belarus, Russia should share best practices in IT

27.01.2015
Belarus and Russia should share best practices in the field of information technologies, Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov said as he met with Dmitry Shedko, First Deputy Information Technologies and Communications Minister of Belarus, on 27 January, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Russia need to exchange best solutions in the field of information technologies and adopt the best practices of each other. This will make it easier for people to receive public services in our countries,” he emphasized.

According to Nikolai Nikiforov, this can be done by means of introducing e-government, the process which is now underway in Russia and Belarus. “In some regions of our country, people have an opportunity to submit applications to the civil registry office online. Up to 95% of applications are submitted this way there. Applying for a place in a kindergarten, paying fines for traffic offences, getting a certificate – all this should be done online,” he noted.

Now about 30-35% of Russians use electronic public services. “Our ministries have accumulated enough experience in this field and they can share best practices with their Belarusian counterparts,” Nikolai Nikiforov said.
