Energy Ministry reveals when second unit of BelNPP will be put into commercial operation

Protocol with new Belarusian nuclear power plant loan terms fully ratified in Russia
The protocol was signed in early March 2023 after the deadline for commissioning the Belarusian nuclear power plant was shifted. The protocol extends the period of usage of the nuclear power plant construction loan by one year till the end of 2023.

Russia ratifies amendments to Belarus-Russia loan agreement to finance BelNPP project
On 20 September, the document was ratified by the Russian State Duma. Thus, both chambers of the Russian parliament completed ratification of the protocol that was signed at the beginning of March 2023.

A delegation of China National Nuclear Power Company and Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC) visited the Belarusian nuclear power plant on 21 September. The delegation was made familiar with progress of the project's realization, current work in the sphere of nuclear and radiation safety.

Russian parliament ratifies protocol on new Belarusian nuclear power plant construction loan terms
Russian Deputy Finance Minister Timur Maksimov explained that the protocol extends the period of usage of the nuclear power plant construction loan by one year, till the end of 2023 and reschedules the date when the repayment of the principal debt on the loan is supposed to begin from 1 April 2023 to 1 April 2024.

Belarus looks forward to WANO peer review in 2025
According to the source, in view of commitments of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant as a nuclear power plant operator the enterprise intends to host a peer review by WANO in 2025. Preparations are scheduled for 2024 already.

About 19bn kWh of electricity generated by Belarusian nuclear power plant so far
Once the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant begins commercial operation, the power plant will generate about 18.5 billion kWh of electricity per annum. It will allow satisfying over 40% of the country's need for electricity and substituting about 4.5-5 billion m3 of imported natural gas per annum.
