Gosatomnadzor speaks about readiness of BelNPP second unit for commissioning
“We are now approaching the phase to test the equipment of the second power unit at rated capacity within a span of 15 days. Inspection works will be carried out: we will visit the site and examine the readiness of all the systems for this phase,” Olga Lugovskaya said.

“The head of state, when making a decision to build the NPP, set the main priority to ensure the safety of this project. There are three main components of ensuring the safety of the plant: the choice of the best modern technologies, offered on the world market, quality implementation of the project and the selection and training of personnel for reliable operation of the plant,” Mikhail Mikhadyuk said.

During the public hearings the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) will inform the general public about results of the safety expert evaluation and conformance evaluation of the nuclear power plant with requirements of the license.

Performance of units during nuclear safety exercise at Belarusian nuclear power plant praised
A tactical exercise focusing on nuclear and radiation safety of the population took place in Ostrovets and the district on 4 September. As part of the exercise special vehicles of the Emergencies Ministry and the Internal Affairs Ministry operated in the area accompanied by well-geared personnel.

Nuclear safety exercise to take place at BelNPP, in Ostrovets District on 4 September
As part of the exercise special vehicles of the Emergencies Ministry and the Internal Affairs Ministry will move into the area followed by well-geared personnel. Public announcement systems will be used during the exercise. Population evacuation from a populated locality will be practiced.
