BelNPP seen as guarantee for Belarus' future development

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - The Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) is a glimpse into the future and a real guarantee of the country's future development, Doctor of Military Sciences, Professor Nikolai Buzin shared this opinion in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.

“Belarusian NPP is a glimpse into the future. It is not just a glimpse but a real guarantee of the country's future development. It is an opportunity to create high-tech industries on the basis of excess energy available in our country. After all, today's leaders in the economy are those states that are actively engaged in the development of nuclear power. I will name them: China, India, South Korea. In France, more than 70% of the energy sector relies on nuclear power. About 20% of the United States' energy is generated by nuclear reactors,” Nikolai Buzin said.

According to the expert, Belarus has made the right decision not to abandon the most promising energy source of the future. “In my opinion, this is the most correct step, designed for the future, for the development of the country. It is a step that can be realized only in the state, which is confident not in the immediacy of its existence, but expects to live, develop and leave something for their children and grandchildren,” Nikolai Buzin said.

He added that before the nuclear power plant was built in Belarus, most of the country's energy was produced by gas: “It was the only source. In general, this generation could live like that. But the efficiency of nuclear power is the highest in the world.”
