Russian and Chinese specialists to unite efforts to build floating nuclear stations
ZAO Rusatom Overseas (a daughter enterprise of the Russian state corporation Rosatom) and the Chinese company CNNC New Energy signed a memorandum of intent to cooperate in the project for building floating nuclear power plants in Moscow on 29 July, BelTA learned from the strategic communications division of Rusatom Overseas. The creation of a Russian-Chinese working group will be the next step in implementing the project.

Belarus considering construction of research nuclear reactor
“At the moment we are considering a feasibility study of the research nuclear reactor project,” said Andrei Kuzmin. There are plans to hold preliminary consultations on this issue with Russian experts. Based on the results of the work done, a decision will be made on the feasibility of building such a facility in Belarus.

Russian institute now makes uranium-plutonium fuel for fast reactors
The Atomic Reactors Research Institute (located in Dimitrovgrad 10, Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia) has launched a chemical technology complex on an experimental basis to make uranium-plutonium fuel for fast reactors, Russian mass media report. The division is now implementing a program to make mixed uranium plutonium fuel for the initial charge of a BN-800 reactor, which is being built at the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant site.

Russian scientists offer system for radiation control at civilian facilities
The public joint-stock company Specialized Scientific Research Institute for Instrumentation Engineering (SNIIP for short, part of the mechanical engineering division Atomenergomash of Rosatom) has announced the development of the design for a complex system for radiation control at civilian facilities, Atomenergomash representatives told BelTA.

IAEA to support development of SMR technology

Fast-neutron reactors hailed as promising nuclear energy technology
Fast-neutron reactors that operate in a closed fuel cycle are one of the promising nuclear energy technologies. Such opinion was expressed by leading nuclear physicists who gathered for the international conference “Fast Reactors and Related Fuel Cycles: Safe Technologies and Sustainable Scenarios” in Paris under the auspices of the IAEA, according to Russian media. The conference brought together over 400 industry professionals from all over the world.
