Belarus, Moldova to step up cooperation in power engineering
Belarus and Moldova are in favor of stepping up cooperation in the area of power engineering. The relevant matters were discussed during the meeting of Belarusian Vice Prime Minister Mikhail Rusyi and Vice Prime Minister, Economy Minister of Moldova Andrian Candu in Chisinau on 24 September, representatives of the Moldovan Economy Ministry told BelTA.

Belarus, Armenia to cooperate in nuclear power plant safety
“A nuclear power plant has been working in Armenia for over 40 years. Apart from that, we have a research institute for operating such facilities. It used to enjoy the status of an all-USSR institute. In other words, we have a lot of experience in this area and are ready to share it,” noted Armen Khachatryan.

Belarusian seismologists start exploring mineral resources in Krasnodar Krai
Belarusians are conducting 3D seismic exploration on an area of 55 square kilometers and 2D exploration on an area of 130 linear kilometers near Krymsk. The works are stipulated by the contract signed by Belorusneft and Geoseis Technology. Five СВ-30/120Н vibroseis sources made by Gomel-based Seismotekhnika were shipped to Russia as part of the contract. Eight seismology specialists also went to Russia to conduct the works.

Experts from 11 countries attending radiological protection seminar in Gomel
Twenty three experts from 11 countries are taking part in the international seminar on radiological protection that is taking place in Gomel on 15-19 September. The seminar was organized by the Nuclear Protection Evaluation Center (CEPN) of France and the National Radiology Institute of Belarus, BelTA learned from Andrei Mostovenko, one of the coordinators of the event.

EEU working on methodology to forecast energy balances
The Eurasian Economic Commission is working on a methodology to develop indicative balances of gas, oil and petroleum products. The draft was reviewed at a meeting of the ad hoc working group chaired by Director of the EEC Energy Department Viktor Myasnik in Moscow on 9 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the commission.

Another production well for Belorusneft in Western Siberia
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft now operates another production well in Western Siberia. The well produced oil flow to surface several days ago with the daily output of 100 tonnes after an offshoot was drilled at well No. 123s2 in the oil field Osenneye of OAO Oil Company Yangpur, the press service of the Belarusian company told BelTA.

Oil extraction from tight reservoirs begins in Belarus
The oil well uses the previously detected Petrikov-Yelets field of the Rechitsa deposit. For a long time this field was believed to be unrecoverable since the appropriate technology was not available. It was in the Rechitsa deposit that the history of the Belarusian oil-extracting industry began 50 years ago. Since then the recoverable oil reserves in traditional collectors have been depleted. However, the upper part of the intersalt complex that has low-penetration collectors contains considerable geological reserves of the so-called tight oil that used to be unrecoverable until recently.

Belorusneft’s export of oil industry services on the rise in 2014
In his words, the export growth will be secured by increasing the number of orders that Belorusneft fulfills in Western Siberia and the Far North and by expanding the geography of the Russian Federation regions where the Belarusian company performs hydraulic fracturing and salt-acid fracturing operations. In particular, over the last 12 months the number of Belorusneft’s clients has grown to include daughter enterprises of OAO Lukoil in Volgograd Oblast, Kaliningrad Oblast, and Samara Oblast. “The Chechen republic and Stavropol Krai are absolutely new regions for us where services are rendered to enterprises that make part of the oil giant Rosneft,” remarked Alexander Prizentsov.

Record deep oil well drilled in Belarus
The new oil well depth record is an absolute one for the Belarusian oil industry but not final. The drilling effort continues. The final depth is supposed to reach 6,680m. The well is expected to be the deepest one not only in Belarus but the Commonwealth of Independent States, too. There are similar wells in Russia, which are as long as the Belarusian one is deep, but the Russian ones are horizontal. Appraisal well No. 1 Predrechitskaya is a deviating hole, with the boresight angle of 470m.

Belorusneft signs agreement on geologic exploration, development of oil block in Ecuador
The agreement stipulates technical and economic conditions for the exploration and development of block No. 28. The agreement was signed in late August by representatives of the alliance that comprises Belorusneft, Petroamazonas (Ecuador), and ENAP (Chile) on one side and the Secretariat for Hydrocarbons of the Nonrenewable Natural Resources Ministry on the other side.
