Belarus, Russia to negotiate next year’s oil deliveries soon
In the near future Belarus and Russia will hold negotiations on next year’s oil deliveries, BelTA learned from Igor Bobyr, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim, at the press conference held on 27 May. The press conference was timed to Chemical Industry Worker’s Day.

Belarus, India Presidents to discuss cooperation in Minsk
The energy sector is another area of cooperation that is of interest to Belarus and India. “In 2013 the Indian company successfully completed the reconstruction of Grodno CHP Plant No.2. We are in talks with Indian partners on the implementation of joint projects in energy and cooperation in renewable energy,” Vitaly Prima stressed.

Chinese companies eager to invest in wind farm construction in Vitebsk Oblast

Russian experience for building radiation monitoring system in Belarus
In particular, the Belarusian weather service cooperates with the R&D group Typhoon of the Russian weather service. “We cooperate within the framework of the Union State program on meteorology and environmental pollution monitoring. For the sake of forecasting the propagation of radioactive pollution by air in an emergency we rely on the software product RECASS NT developed by Typhoon. Information about gamma radiation power levels registered by monitoring stations of the Russian weather service and observation stations of the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry is constantly shared,” explained Olga Zhukova.

Belarus ready to implement complex energy-saving solutions
Andrei Minenkov said: “Belarus has been working on energy saving for over 20 years. The country has created a serious system of measures to save energy and a good legal base that allows reaching goals and accomplishing tasks in this sphere. Rising prices for energy resources, energy-saving equipment and modern technologies are a general global trend. The cheapest projects with the fastest return on investments are already being implemented, but we are ready to implement complex energy-saving solutions. We approach them carefully since they require considerable financial investments.”

Chinese company to finish installing Vitebsk hydropower plant equipment by March 2016
The Chinese company CNEEC will finish installing equipment of the Vitebsk hydropower plant by March 2016, BelTA learned from representatives of the Information Technologies Office of the Belarusian national electrical company Belenergo as they commented on the latest meeting of top executives of CNEEC and the Vitebsk Oblast electrical company Vitebskenergo. The meeting was held to discuss the construction of the Vitebsk hydropower plant on the Zapadnaya Dvina River.

Eurasian Economic Union’s common electricity market concept approved
Viktor Khristenko remarked that electric energy industry will be kind of a pioneer in the Eurasian Economic Union. Plans have been made to get the common electricity market operational by 2019. “The concept provides for stages of creation of the common electricity market, goals and so,” explained the official.

Belarus to defend report on spent fuel management in IAEA
The document has been developed by specialists of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry in association with government agencies concerned. In particular, the report outlines the government policy and practices with regard to the management of spent fuel and radioactive waste in Belarus. The report also highlights the legal base and the fulfillment of recommendations given as a result of the presentation of the previous report. The current report covers events that occurred and measures that were taken in the period from 2012 through 2014.
