UNECE experts to analyze environmental efforts in Belarus
The review will comprise 14 chapters. “We will take a close look at the legislation and its observance in the country, will analyze the economic instruments that help with environmental protection. Some chapters will be dedicated to the protection of air, water resources, biological diversity, and waste treatment. Apart from that, this time the environmental performance review will pay close attention to ecological considerations in various branches of the economy,” stated the UNECE secretariat representative. Yulia Trombitskaya stressed that experts of the commission will work with representatives of all the ministries and government agencies of Belarus as well as non-governmental organizations.

Belarus, Pakistan to set up joint fund to finance scientific research
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the Pakistan Academy of Sciences are set to create a joint fund to finance scientific research, Chief Academic Secretary of the NASB Alexander Kilchevsky told journalists on 16 March, BelTA has learned.

Contest to choose Belarusian startups for Russian investments in Minsk on 14-15 April
A stage of the All-Russian Startup Tour will take place in Minsk on 14-15 April. This year for the first time the event will be held beyond Russian borders, BelTA learned from the press service of the Skolkovo Foundation, which organizes the startup tour.

Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park to open business incubator by late April
“Construction and installation operations are over. We are buying furniture and performing startup and commissioning. We plan to arrange a major event in the business incubator on 23 April. The facility should be ready by that time,” said the official.

Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park’s export of services 31% up in 2014
In 2014 resident companies of the Hi-Tech Park exported $585.2 million worth of services, 131% as against 2013. Export accounted for 88% of the HTP’s total production. “Across the country we secured a 44% increase in the export of services in the balance of payments in 2014,” stressed Valery Tsepkalo.

Pakistani scientists to visit NASB
“The first visit of a scientific delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will take place from 14 to 18 March 2015. The delegation will come to Minsk on the invitation of the Belarusian side to discuss promising areas and mechanisms of cooperation and study the structure of the NASB and its activities,” the press service explained. The delegation will comprise Secretary General of the Pakistani Academy of Sciences Professor Zabta Shinwari and Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Professor Mansoor Akbar Kundi.

Belarus to present its innovations at Hannover Messe
“The NASB delegation will take part in the world's leading trade fair for industrial technology Hannover Messe on 13-17 April 2015. Partaking in the expo will be three NASB organizations, including the state research and manufacturing association Tsentr, the research and development center on material science and the Physics and Technology Institute, that will showcase their 24 latest innovations,” the NASB explained.

Roscosmos, NASB to develop new satellite
According to the source, a new space program of Belarus provides for creating the satellite. “We are now working with Roscosmos on what the satellite will look like. It may be a satellite with the resolution of less than one meter,” Piotr Vityaz remarked. The official explained that this resolution is what the customers want.
